Abstract
Sixty-nine cases of acute myocardial infarction were studied clinically at the Jeonbug National University Hospital the period five years, from January, 1975 to December, 1979.
1. The incidence of the acute myocardial infarction (69 cases) among the total medical inpatient (17, 223) was 0.40% and the ratio of male to female was 4.8:1.
2. The acute myocardial infarction showed the peak incidence of age in their fifties, and over four-fifths of patients were between fifth and seventh decade in ages.
3. The major symphms of acut myocardial infarction were precordial or epigast ric pain(67%), dyspnea(55 %) , cough and sputum (28 %) , nausea and vomiting (19%) and palpitation (18 %) in frequency.
4. Labolatory findings were, leukocytosis (66 %) , increased LDH (82 %) , increased SGOT (57%) and increased cholesterol (36.8%).
5. The anterior wall infarction was 62.3% of all cases, inferior wall 24.6%, and anterior-inferior wall 3 cases.
6. Arrhythmias were showed in 52% of all cases with sinus tachycardia, premature ventricular contraction and sinus bradycardia in frequenency.
7. The mortality rate of 69 cases with acute myocardial infarction was 20.3%. The ominous factors influencing the prognosis were age of over 60, sex of famale, inferior wall infarction and shock.
8. The incidence of the acute myocardial infarction among the total medical inpatients has increased year by year.
